It’s clear that we’re the Generation Z, with Z of Bitzer, but are we sure what defines us? Tinder, thanks to the information extracted from the bios of the profiles, has compiled the topics that have interested most to centennials during the past 2019. Will you feel identified?

The emoji of 2019

If 2019 could be summed up with an emoji, it would be with the “facepalm”. ‍♀️ ‍♀️ ‍♀️.

More than 300 million emojis were used in Tinder’s biographies in 2019, but the #facepalm emoji increased its use by 41% during that year.

Young people highly committed

Another curious fact that Tinder reveals is that most of the young people of this generation mention more vindictive social causes in their bios than the millennial generation.

Millennials are more adventurous and tend to talk more about travel, while centennials use concepts such as “climate change” or “social justice” in their profiles. Thus, Gen Z would be characterized by being more committed to causes such as feminism or environment topics.

A real generation without complexes

This is an authentic generation, not afraid to show themselves as they are. They mention their fanaticism to find someone to match and share hobbies. From female superheroes (Captain Marvel, Lizzo, Elizabeth Warren), series like Game of Thrones, to the Jonas Brothers … They are real and without complexes about their interests.

Another sample of its authenticity is that, in 2019, 30% more users used the “More Genres” option to define themselves for finding similar people with whom to go on a date. In addition, the use of rainbow emojis in Tinder bios also increased 15% worldwide from 2018 to 2019.
